remembering you

I can remember going to the ballpark as a kid. The day of the game brought tons of emotions to my head. Excited. Nervous. Scared. I remember having to go back to the house a dozen times because I forgot my glove. I mean, how was I going to play the game I was so excited about playing without my glove?

As kids we were whisked right into the adult life and on the way we plum forgot to bring ourselves with us! That's why I usually get a big BLANK STARE when I ask, "WHO ARE YOU"?

God made me. I then took me from there and installed all sorts of after-market gadgets that I picked up in school, from relationships, from a girl named Willow next door (don't make me go there!) and on the basketball court. Now, as an adult I'm finding myself again and seeing how much of my adult life has been out of whack with myself!

Life flows when my day's content is an expression of WHO I AM. And the ride is so much smoother when I include the first base, "who are you"!

I invite you to take a trip back. Back past the busy-ness of your life today. Back to before the moment you settled for and you compromised and you shut down and you excused away and you formed ridiculousbeliefs about yourself and about life and love.

Go back. Remember. And when you find that little child who loved to do and be all those things that you forgot about...just know that child still exists. You carry him/her around with you everyday. That li'l "you" is dying to come out and play. You don't believe me? Heck you see it all the time. You're there! You've noticed those times when the li'l you poked out for a moment last year on the beach or in the form of that dream of doing something wild or new or adventurous. The li'l you came out in that moment of passion when you forgot everything around you and all that existed was love. Or remember when you saw the beauty of a child and you stopped? That was your own child you were remembering.

Go back and remember. Slow down and recognize the you that you left back there on the roadside. And know that it's that side of you that drives you. It's that side of you that's YOU! Let you out. But step back because your life will feel more ALIVE as everyone around you shouts "what took you so long" and as you bring back more and more into your life of the things you've truly loved and missed.
