my past

What’s your past to you?

Pain?  Sadness?  Joy?  Your best days?  Your worst days? Something to forget about? Something to cling onto?

So, what part does your past play in your present? Know it or not, its role is very significant. You're either aware of its role or you're not.

Today you and I are allowing our Yesterday to either be Tomorrow’s REASON or tomorrow's EXCUSE. And you’re making that decision TODAY. And tomorrow you’ll make the decision again as today becomes another yesterday.

“I’d rather forget about yesterday”
“I’ve wasted 20+ years”
“I never want to go back there”
“I don’t want to talk about it”
“My past is too painful to bring up”

"I wish I could have it all back"

If the above describes you, then YOU’RE OWNED BY YOUR PAST. And you will begin moving forward in earnest as you are willing to give your past homage. Only then will it be transformed from power that pushes you back or power that's propels you forward.

Your past is painful because you’ve made it so. Yes you were abused and you were different back then. That was then. And in some quirky way what happened back then was a perfect part of helping shape exactly who you are right now.

Become free from the grip of your past. Resist it no longer, but let it in as a vital part of you. It IS. And your refusal to acknowledge this has been holding you at bay. So recognize it as so. Let your past be a springboard for your tomorrow. Don’t miss the precious lessons.

Try this…
Own YOUR part of your past. Open yourself up for the valuable lessons about yourself. If you were always the abused, then listen to the critical lesson of HOW & WHY you allowed abuse into your life. If you lived in a prison-relationship, go there and receive the lesson of how you set it up from the start, how you allowed the prison to be built. Learn now and let it springboard you into tomorrow awakened and aware of how NOT to build your own prison.

I'm very aware that some of you will read this and start spitting fumes! It serves you well (so you think) to remain the victim of others. I want you out of the prison. And sometimes getting out means owning your choices you don't want to own.

Do not allow your past be a thorn by holding back and shutting down. Don’t lose your dream my friend! Listen to God’s voice thru everything that’s happened to you. It’s gold! It was not intended to stop you but to catapult you into a more awakened tomorrow. Be a student of your yesterday. Take the lesson of the mighty oak that uses it yesterday (fallen leaves) as benefit (ground cover & fertilization for its roots).

"Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

-Ralph Waldo Emerson
