So
what does loving yourself look like? And how do we do it?
In
my work this has been one of the most important questions I've
been asked. As folks grow and awaken,
they begin to understand the importance of self-love. And when
it's not real present in their lives, they want to understand
how to bring it about.
I
wish that I had the recipe for you. I can remind you of what
you already know and maybe it will begin falling into place
for you. Imagine if you had custody of a little child. Imagine
that child as the most precious human being to you. Imagine
that child being solely dependent on YOU for his survival and
for his love. How would you care for him? What would it look
like? Would you clothe and feed others at the expense of his
clothing and feeding? Would you not give him the healthiest
of environment you can? Would you not remind him of his priceless
worth vs. belittle him and shame him?
Would
you honor who he is vs. disrespecting him with your thoughts
and words? Would you give him the best you can possibly give
him emotionally, spiritually,
mentally and physically? Sure you would!
The
little child is YOU. Your child within. Love yourself as you
would that child. Love for self is indeed loving your child
within...the you who's been feeling neglected over the years
and has been prompting your choices made that counter your own
reasoning!
Self
love. Observe how you speak to yourself. You're always telling
yourself something, ya know? Constant chattering of
the mind. Is it zipping or is it zapping? Observe how you feed
yourself and how you hold
things back from yourself. Notice the times you unknowingly
self-shame
vs. self-edify. You've done a good job of ignoring it or justifying
it. It's time. It's time to begin looking for ways to honor
yourself.
I
see myself as a child of a Loving Living God. And golly, not
loving and honoring myself is virtually a slap in God's face!
I'm a masterpiece of a Master. And so are you. And your recognizing
that will help you find your way back to honoring and LOVING
WHO YOU ARE.
Try
this...
Be
still. See yourself as UNIQUELY YOU, created by a Living Loving
God. Now see yourself as crafted in the exact image that you
are, all FOR A UNIQUE PURPOSE.
Now applaud your Maker for the job well done.
The
lifestyle of celebrating who you are sets you free to SHINE
and to LIVE OUT YOUR FULLNESS my friend.
