Through
much of your life you've been a student. We know it all in geography
and algebra and adjectives. While most of us can answer a simple
scholastic question without missing a beat, the simple question
of "WHO ARE YOU" flings most of our brains into neutral!
It's uncanny
that I've lived with myself all of my life and the question
WHO ARE YOU can sound like Greek!
Why is
this question so important? Knowing who you are is essential
in creating the life you want. Your understanding of who you
are gives you a rudder for your relationships as well as for
your career. Knowing who you are is knowing what you want.
And knowing what you want is essential in CREATING
what you want.
Are you
hilariously happy in your job or in your relationship right
now?
If not, why? My first question to you is, WHAT'S MOST IMPORTANT
TO YOU? What do you value most? In my experience this isn't
an answer that jumps out for most. And what's apparent is, relationships
that aren't "working" usually do not contain what's
Valued most by the individuals.
I was talking
with a woman who has been repeatedly frustrated in her relationship.
After talking we agreed that the thing she values most is RESPECT.
And respect was sorely lacking in her union with her man. In
fact she felt continually disrespected. And yet this was what
she valued most. No wonder she was miserable! She's now conscious
of and creating more respect in all areas of her life.
A man who
was having bouts with depression realized that his day's activities
didn't include doing the thing he loved most. He loved helping
people out with problems and yet his job kept him isolated in
a back room with a few familiar faces. He wasn't doing and being
what he loved and the misery grew. And grew. After a course
correction it was as if life was pumped back into his veins.
BECOME YOU
OWN STUDENT. Here's how.
