How
'bout you? In what ways do you flee?
Come on...we all do it! Over-working? Over-playing?
Over-eating? Over-compensating? Over-joking?
Over-reacting? Over-explaining? Hey, wait...am
I over-expaining myself again? Yikes!
Many
times when we flee, we don't even know we're
on the run! Heck, not trusting
is one way we avoid life. When I don't
trust, I don't have to engage on an intimate
level. Not telling the truth
is another common avoidance. Blaming
is almost a national pasttime that serves
us well as we keep the focus off ourselves
and the part of us we don't want to face!
Here's
the astonishing truth about the things I avoid
and why I avoid them...
Life
is not a complicated ordeal. As complex
as we try and make it, life is a process
of me "on the run". Some of us
more than others. What am I on the run from?
Myself.
Why else would you become irritated at the
slander that you're inadequate in some way.
Now let's think about this like never before.
You might be thinking, "well why
wouldn't I get irritated
at someone making a demeaning comment about
me?
My
question to you is, "why would
you"? Unless you believe that on some
level, the comment is true?
It's
the element of truth in the statement that
I want to push away or avoid. And that's why
I'll get real creative, from dismissing to
invalidating to retaliating & lashing
out to appeasing so as to keep it hush.I simply do not want
to hear about that side of myself I fear is
ugly, unlovable and not good enough. I don't
like being ugly and unlovable. It feels...it
feels....ugly & unlovable! Ick!
How
do you flee? Do you lie to side-step
confrontation? Do you Blame? Perhaps a little
dawn-to-dusk golfing or over-parenting,
all to avoid dealing with issues? Or how 'bout
just not going full out? Settling for? Minimizing
your risk-taking? Compromising?
My
friend, let's be sure of one thing right here.
We're not about finding "fault"
or weakness. We're about AWAKENING
to specifically HOW you and I keep creating
what we don't want, so we can create
more of what we DO!
Remember,
Lifting yourself OUT OF anything requires
an understanding of how you've worked yourself
INTO.
