BOO!
"We've
designed our entire lives around AVOIDING
those things we've determined are most painful".
"I
aint scared!"
Oh
no? Then you have everything you want in
life, right? Time, talent and Fear are the
only things that keep us from having the
life we desire. And my guess is that Fear
takes up more room than the others combined.
Fear
doesn't always wear the face of avoidance
or timidity. It commonly shows up as control
or anger or even as what the world may refer
to sometimes as "strong". Those
who must project or model their strength
are often running from "weak".
What
do you avoid
in life? Certain social events where you'll
have to show a side of yourself you don't
want to show (face)? Do you "dress
down" to avoid attracting men or
women? Do you find every activity in the
world to do on Friday night to avoid going
out? Do you make excuses or justify why
you're staying at your present job or
career to avoid facing the prospect of
failing at something else?
Are
you not telling your partner your truth
in order to avoid conflict? Do you avoid
dreaming for fear that it'll never come
true? Do you avoid taking a risk for fear
of looking foolish or failing? Do you keep
people at a distance
for fear they'll reject you? Do you compromise
too much just to keep your relationship
together?
What
is this thing we fear so much? And how can
we rid ourselves of its grip?
