contribution

LIfe...treat it like a hot tater!

Have you noticed in your own life how lifeless you sometimes feel whenever you hoard things? Whether with money or love or time or energy...we're either keeping it or we're passing it on. And those in the latter category seem to be DANCIN'!

"To Have, I must Keep 'n Stash like a squirrel in the Fall."

Can't take it with you. Yet many continue stock piling & stock piling then grow old and die. Mercy me, the last thing I want folks saying at my funeral is, "gosh, he had alotta stuff piled up under his bed"!

Focusing on my navel becomes toxic. As I become self-absorbed I have less interest in contributing, and it's the heart and act of contribution that purges and revitalizes. I've seen more vitality returned to relationships by simply taking their focus OFF the relationship and ON doing something together that makes a difference. As an individual or as a couple or as a corporate team, the snare lies in your cause becoming as small as you vs. larger than you.

Have you noticed in your own life the correlation between hoarding things for yourself and feeling somewhat "lifeless"? Whether you're talkin' money or love or time or energy...we're either hoarding it or we're passing it on. And those passing it on are also those who are DANCIN' thru life!

This is one of those areas of life that I cannot fully explain. But make no mistake, GIVING sets up MIRACLES.

Think of money or possessions as ENERGY. Energy has a natural flow. In and out. Up and down. Ebb and flow. Try breathing in and holding your breath. Now breath in some more. And in some more. You begin to appreciate the act of breathing out SO MORE ROOM CAN BE MADE FOR BREATHING IN.

I've personally noticed this flow in my own life. When I hoard my own talents or time or energy without giving it away, I feel stagnant like a stream with no outlet. Some think that in order to HAVE we must KEEP. Consider that, to have we must Give so as to make room to have more!

Now, I'm not suggesting that you go give away everything that you own. No no no...I'm asking you to examine your posture toward life. We're either "Poverty Conscious" or we're "Abundance Conscious". We see everything in life as limited quantities to be stashed or as unlimited to be passed thru us. Stash or pass! For me personally I've witnessed in my own life each of these play significant roles in feeling either stuck or feeling free.

We're created to contribute. That's why we feel so good when we do. Have you noticed how much better it feels to give a gift than to receive one? Here's a promise I'll make to you. If you're feeling stuck, sluggish or depressed right now, GET UP AND GO GIVE. Don't just take the pill this time. Go dig a ditch or write a check or buy a gift or feed a homeless or share your story or tooter a child or sit with an elderly or roof with a neighbor or sing a song to a friend on the phone. DO IT! Then try figuring out where your depression went.

As you get more and more in touch with your reason for being here on this earth, you'll see that you are here to contribute, in some form. That's our purpose, and our living out of that purpose catapults our lives into the land of the LIVING!

Look for ways to GIVE. How much simpler can I make it. And do it anonymously. "Strings-attached" givers don't seem to benefit the same spiritual results.

If there's nothing in your daily schedule that looks like giving, then get creative and include it starting right now. I mean it! Now! Go to your office doorway and compliment the first person you see down the hall. Pick up the phone and give some love to a friend by telling them what you appreciate most about them. Buy someone lunch. GIVE. Anything of value to you. GIVE. ZING comes from GIVING. Give. You'll be glad you did I promise.
