Whether
you believe that you can, or you believe that you
can't...you're absolutely right!

We
think that our beliefs are shaped and molded by
our surroundings. It certainly looks that way, doesn't
it? Afterall, I think that I'm unlovable because
I never have success with love. Or I think that
I'm unsuccessful because...well looky there...I
have a very "average" job or career!
We
grossly underestimate the power of the beliefs that
we've been totin' around since we were itty bitty.
Look around you. Whatever is present (or not present)
is an outward statement of all your inward beliefs.
In a sense your outtards are simply mirrors broadcasting
a reflection of your innards.
My
beliefs have brought me exactly to this very point
in my life. I arrived where I am right now on a
train called "My Beliefs". Let me explain.
I
believe that I'm a lovable guy, so the process of
making friends comes easy to me. Why? Because I
don't resist that process. I believe that I'm not
cut out for wealth, so I live on humble earnings
while unconsciously repelling financial gains, keeping
them at arm's length (I'm happy to tell you...that's
changing as I write this!). And here's another one:
I
believe
that life is easy so I have naturally created
an easy life. I believe that love is simple, so
my relationships are always uncomplicated. I believe
that I'm talented and so I confidently present myself
as one with talent...and people believe me! Why?
Because I believe it myself.
How
people even view me
is largely a reflection of how
I view myself! Holy cow!
Whatever
I hold strongly in my mind as TRUE,
I continually bring about its supportive evidence
in my life.
"But
wait! I'm not sure what I believe!"
Many
of us aren't. Consciously. You may not
know how afraid you are of speaking in public or
bungee jumping until you face it. You may not know
how afraid you are to tell your wife or husband
the truth until you wake up and find yourself being
less than honest.
When
we were itty bitty guys and gals we formed in our
itty bitty rug-rat minds what everything means.
Brussel sprouts are bad, roaches are scary, this
over here isn't funny. We learned what value we
bring to others...or not.

Heck I simply designed my entire
life course around avoiding encounters with those
things that I deemed as most painful,
while pursuing those things that I believed are
most beneficial or pleasurable.
My beliefs of what things MEAN
SHAPE my life experience.
Then there's the TRAP...
